Abstract

The proceedings contain 28 papers. The special focus in this conference is on Biomedical Electronics and Devices, Bioinformatics Models, Methods and Algorithms and Bio-inspired Systems and Signal Processing. The topics include: Opened-ring electrode array for enhanced non-invasive monitoring of bioelectrical signals; development and application of a portable device for cutaneous thermal sensitivity assessment; pine decay assessment by means of electrical impedance spectroscopy; gold standard generation using electrooculogram signal for drowsiness detection in simulator conditions; dielectric barrier discharge plasma for endodontic treatment; characterization of an acoustic based device for local arterial stiffness assessment; formal analysis of gene networks using network motifs; word match counts between markovian biological sequences; systematic analysis of homologous tandem repeat family in the human genome; predicting protein localization using a domain adaptation approach; optimization of cost sensitive models to improve prediction of molecular functions; dynamic changes of nasal airflow resistance during provocation with birch pollen allergen; identification of athletes during walking and jogging based on gait and electrocardiographic patterns; clinical test for validation of a new optical probe for hemodynamic parameters assessment; influence of iris template aging on recognition reliability; stable EEG features for biometric recognition in resting state conditions; integration of smart home health data in the clinical decision making process; modality preference in multimodal interaction for elderly persons and centralised electronic health records research across health organisation types.
