Abstract

The paper considers four algorithms arising in adaptive systems problems, equation error identification, output error identification, reference trajectory following and adaptive pole positioning. Theoretical explanation, backed up by simulations, is offered for the phenomenon of bursts of oscillatory behaviour in the presence of excitations which are not persistently exciting. © 1985.
