Abstract

The ICAC investigated the theft of zoological specimens from the Australian Museum between 1997 and 2002. In its report on this investigation, made public on 24 September 2003, the ICAC made corrupt conduct findings against a former employee of the Museum, Hendrikus (Hank) van Leeuwen, and stated its opinion that consideration be given to his prosecution for specified offences. The ICAC also made 33 corruption prevention recommendations to the Australian Museum.
