Botânica: uma ciência básica ou aplicada?

Abstract

(Botany: a fundamental or an applied science?). Examples of interactions between endophytic microorganisms and their host-plants are used to show the importance of Botany for biotechnology development and biodiversity preservation. Conclusion: the current hollistic view on sciences makes distinctions between basic and applied aspects of science irrelevant, mainly when biological sciences are taken into account, as is the case of Botany.
