Abstract

The insertion of a suprapubic catheter is an increasingly common urological procedure. However the procedure, whilst beneficial for the patient, is not without significant risk, a situation that is exacerbated by the lack of consensus and practice guidelines. This article is an abridged version of the British Association of Urological Surgeons Suprapubic catheter best practice guidelines published by Harrison et al. in 2011. © 2011 The Authors.
