The article discusses the Belize Education Project (BEP), a program sponsored by schools in Douglas County, Colorado, which is dedicated to promoting literacy in the schools of Santa Elena, Belize. Teacher training methods in Belize are discussed, as well as the professional development workshops created by the BEP teachers to retrain Belizean teachers. Schools in Belize involved in the program include Eden Primary School, Hills of Promise Primary School, and Bullet Tree Primary School. BEP's family literacy program is also discussed.
