Abstract

A new 3D face database that includes a rich set of expressions, systematic variation of poses and different types of occlusions is presented in this paper. This database is designed to enable research on face recognition under adverse conditions, and facial expression analysis. Particularly, the expressions consist of a judiciously selected subset of Action Units as well as the six basic emotions. A preliminary study has also been done to register faces and estimate the facial surface deformations due to identity and expression variations. This new database is a very valuable resource for development and evaluation of algorithms. ©2008 IEEE.
