Abstract

The interdependenceof space and time is readily demonstratedin experiments
modeled on the following paradigm: stimuli-e.g. light, touch-are
presented successivelyin three positions in space; either of two
independentvariables-e.g. temporalintervalor physicaldistancebe-
tween the first and second comparedwith the second and third stimuli-is
varied; thus with an increaseof temporalinterval there is an increasein
with an increaseof perceiveddistance(Tau phenomenon) and, conversely,
distance there is an increase in apparentduration (Kappa phe- physical
nomenon).
