Abstract

The reconceptualization of security has been triggered by the end of the Cold War, by the process of globalization, and by the gradual transition from the Holocene to the Anthropocene phase of earth history (Brauch 2008, 2009, chap. 1 by Brauch/Oswald Spring above). From a philosophical perspective, in the contemporary security discussion the dual moment of prevention and compensation of genuinely social and technical uncertainties (Makropoulos 1995: 745750) becomes decisive.
