Abstract

Data on incidence and prevalence of diseases are needed to characterize the health of a population. Public health organizations oversee these efforts. The public health staff need to have a community diagnosis to set priorities. The key to this diagnosis is incidence and prevalence of diseases and the occurrence of risk factors in the population.
