Abstract

Having scientific publications is an evidence of a lecturer's efforts to fulfill the obligation to carry out research activities as one of the three obligations of Higher Education in Indonesia, i.e. education and teaching, research, and community service. The objective of this research is to evaluate the determinant factors of publication in Scopus by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) lecturers using logistic regressions. This research consists of two studies, i.e. evaluating the determinant factors that affect the authorship of publication in Scopus, and evaluating the factors that influence the authorship of publication in Scopus as the first author. Two types of data are used as case studies, i.e. primary data from www.scopus.com that be observed on September 2015, and secondary data about profile of ITS lecturers. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that determinant factors affecting the authorship of publication in Scopus by ITS lecturers are age, functional position, educational level, and country of the highest education (overseas or domestic university), with classification accuracy of 73.7%. Furthermore, determinant factors that influence the authorship of publication in Scopus as the first author are age, gender, educational level, and country of the highest education, with classification accuracy of 71.6%.
