Abstract

Sexual assault cases present complex medical, psychological, social, and legal challenges to emergency practitioners. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) programs were designed to improve and expedite this patient care. The following review describes unique requirements, objectives, and resources when developing a program based in the Emergency Department. © 2003 Elsevier Inc.
