Abstract

During an emergency, the situation can change rapidly and emergency information is crucial to evacuate people safely from buildings. The guidance system we use during emergencies should be the same as those used in everyday life. Nowadays, almost everyone has a mobile phone. A guidance system using smartphones can provide more useful information than guideboards on walls or announcements. We propose an evacuation guidance system that can provide information during emergencies even when the Internet is unavailable. © 2013 IEEE.
