WE ASKED FOUR PROGRAMS that represent the many experiments ongoing throughout the United States to address four questions: (1) describe the program’s mission and vision and the rationale for creating the program, (2) describe the program’s design and con- tent, (3) present any evaluation results that have been collected, and (4) describe how the program has been able to sustain itself. We examine four examples of sports-based youth development pro- grams. The programs are Harlem RBI, Tenacity, Snowsports Out- reach Society, and Hoops & Leaders Basketball Camp.
