Bosco argues that land reform movements like Brazil's MST, social protest movements like the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo in Argentina, and regional movements like the pan-Mayan movement of coastal peoples in Colombia all share in common an agenda of control over their own territory. Many of these movements, including the Zapatistas and HIJOS in Argentina have explored access to space at different scales -- local village, visible protest, and internet -- as a tool for organizing.
