Abstract

The studies included interviews in which employees were asked what pleased and displeased them about their work. [Frederick Irving Herzberg] found that the factors that resulted in satisfaction and motivation were different from those causing dissatisfaction. The resulting conclusions are known as the motivation-hygiene theory.
