Abstract

Where does HRD stand as a bona fide profession? Where does it need to go in the future in its quest to become an established and widely recognized profession? What short- and long-range strategies are needed to get it there? What issues and challenges need to be addressed that will enable HRD to continue evolving, growing, and advancing as a profession? This article is an attempt to begin addressing these critical and complex questions. An assessment of where HRD currently stands as a profession and two potential strategies that might assist HRD to elevate its professional stature are offered. © Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
