This article provides a comprehensive coverage of Bank lending activities in support of information management and technology applications in all economic sectors in developing countries. Two years ago an overview article in this journal examined the role of some aid agencies in the development, use and implementation of information technology in projects in developing countries. This article seeks to go further and provide a more up-to-date, in-depth, comprehensive view of the field, with a focus on the role of IT in World Bank lending. Annex 1 provides some practical information about business opportunities generated by Bank loans in projects with IT components. -from Authors
