Abstract

Many people assess that education system in Indonesia until this day lack of capability-if not fail- to realize the target of national educational development, which is developing In holistic human being. Increased student fights, drug consumption and circulation, lack of child’s respect to teacher and parent, the emerging of tribal egoism that lead to separatism, moral lowliness of all government body are indication supporting assessment above. These phenomenons show the existence of “something wrong” in our education practice, which is lack of attention to moral aspect. This article will be investigating pesantren’s educational model, which prove its efficacy in producing pious and noble santri (student). We’ll find several aspect of that potency, without denying its insufficiencys. That excellence expected can improve the weakness of conventional education model applied officially by government in national scale. Hence by striving curriculum innovation in pesantren’s education, we hope pesantren can come up as model of alternative education.
