Abstract

Keyphrases play an important role in describing a document. In Learning management systems they lead to improved information retrieval. However, relatively few learning documents have keyterms assigned and therefore finding methods to automate the extraction is desirable. The main aim of this paper is to describe generation of list of keyphrases from a document using part of speech tagging and ranking them using formatting features applied on them by the author rather than relying only on statistics (such as term frequency). © 2009 IEEE.
