Abstract

Mesoporous carbon nanoparticles with uniform spherical morphology were fabricated through a low-concentration hydrothermal synthesis route. The diameters can be tuned from 20 to 140 nm by varying the reagent concentration. The highly ordered mesoporous carbon nanospheres with high surface area and large pore volume show low cytotoxicity and can easily penetrate into living cells. © 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
