Abstract

Summarizes 25 years' work on the 5th to the 16th century, including post-Roman occupation of hillforts, the development of rural settlement patterns, the evolution of long-houses, field systems, the introduction of Christianity, the tin industry, towns and markets, and castles and defended manors. Place-names are extensively discussed and there is a summary of medieval pottery. F B
