The article presents five cases that highlights the necessity of five levers to create a work system that fosters employee engagement. One illustrates what happens when a manager does not have the competence to handle the level of work and to allow employees to do their work and be fully engaged. Another one focuses on setting contextual goals which requires the managers to find what works quickly and do more of it. Another one stresses the importance of remaining autonomous or self-directed.
