Abstract

Confidence limits should be displayed on pollen diagrams to aid in their interpretation. Mosimann (1965) has provided complex but useful equations to estimate 0.95 confidence limits for counts made both inside and outside the basic pollen sum. Nomograms are offered to simplify the solution of Mosimann's equations. Examples of the use of confidence limits are provided. © 1972.
