Many issues are still open in vehicular networks. Road experiments are important to validate new ideas and to guide new theoretical development. They offer a better understanding of the VANET. This paper deals with experiments on the road. A simple architecture is sketched; it is composed of off-the-shelf hardware and a software suite, well adapted to the prototyping of new applications and protocols dedicated to dynamic networks. Experiments are reported and examples of results are given. This work is intended to help in the design of new road experimentations. © 2009 IEEE.
