Abstract

In the development of any subject it is always possible to trace phases of reorganization marked by the change of structure, the so-called revolutions, and more or less quiet evolutionary phases taking place without any dramatic moves. The development of separate sciences about nature, along with natural science as a whole, is no exception. In the latter case there is a periodic change not only of fundamental theories, but also of the paradigms, which in separate sciences predetermine an opportunity of reorganization itself. At what stage is the development of modern natural science now? Can it be described as an evolutionary process or are we on the point of another scientific revolution in the near future? Let’s try to answer these questions through the analysis of the most fundamental theoretical developments in physics; pointing out contradictions inherent in them we will be able to draw the appropriate conclusions.
