In 1944 only one foreign ringer visited the Faeroe Islands. Passerines have only been ringed very sporadically, but a Helgoland-trap has now been constructed on Nólsoy as a Nordic pilot projecr. Migratory birds were few in 1994, bur the first Grasshopper Warbler Locustella naevia seen on the islands was ringed on Nólsoy. We had the first recovery ever of a Swedish ringed Willow Warbler Phylloscopus trochilus ,and furthermore we had our first recovery ever from Belgium. which was a ringed Blackcap Sylvia atricapilla found dead. Finally the world's oldest known Storm Petrel Hydrobates pelagicus was controlled on 11666 days (31-11-15) after the original ringing on Foula, Shetland.
