The Role and Teaching of Theory in Translator Training Programmes

Abstract

Efforts to make translator training programs in Canada more practical & less theoretically oriented are traced. However, the tendency now is to include little or no theory. It is argued that students should be provided with certain general principles of translation upon which practical training can build. The translation of letters is discussed as a means of illustrating these principles. 17 References. B. Annesser Murray
