Abstract

Cellular senescence is a response to damage that involves inflammation and extracellular matrix remodeling and that resolves with the phagocytic elimination of the senescent cells. Demaria etal. (2014) in this issue of Developmental Cell demonstrate that cellular senescence plays an active and positive role during tissue regeneration.
