Abstract

The article offers information on the Microsoft Kinect sensor and its applications. It states that the complementary nature of the depth and visual (RGB) information in the kinect sensor opens up new opportunities for solving problems in computer vision, people tracking, and three dimensional (3D) mapping. However kinect sensor face several specific issues such as characterization of objects based on the RGB-depth images, semantic linkage, and decision making based on fused information.
