Abstract

Today, the request for digital maps for economic and administrative purposes rises. In 1985, Bosch presented a full functional car navigation system called EVA. A route guidance was included in this prototype, however its creation was shelved because of lack of preparation and financing. Instead Bosch Travelpilot was launched with less functionality, therefore it needed fewer requirements on data. Further applications besides car navigation, will need geographic information that may lead to production of business listings and tourist information.
