Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop a protocol that would produce isolated steel cable fractures within the belt sustem of steel belted radial tires without causing catastrophic failure of the tire casing at the time of impact. belt damage has been observed since the introduction of steel belted radial tires into the U.s. market.
