This paper provides a survey of synthesis, purification, and characterization of carbon nanotubes. Resent results obtained at the University of Cincinnati on growth and study of carbon nanotube arrays are presented and discussed. The reported achievements in this area will open up more applications for carbon nanostructured materials in many areas of emerging nanoscale science and nanotechnology.
