Abstract

The first part gives useful and practical information on sites and water supplies, the natural food and growth of cultivated fish. The second part comprises about half the book, dealing in detail with the techniques and methods of cultivation and breeding of trout and salmon, carp, pike, shad, grayling, sturgeon, perch, wall-eye, black bass, tilapia, catfish, eels. Other sections here cover fish cultivation in rice fields and in brackish water, and regional developments. Part 3 is devoted to the control of environmental factors, both biological and non-biological, the artificial feeding of fish, formulae for estimating the best rate of stocking, enemies and diseases of fish and how to combat them. The last part covers harvesting, sorting, storing, grading and preservation.
