This study compares two models of consumer intentions to participate in carpooling behaviour; a Theory of Reasoned Action based model and a model that is based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour. The two models were compared using data from a sample of 323 respondents who each completed a web-based survey. Overall, the results suggest that the model based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour provides a better fit of the data and provides significant insight into the factors that influence consumer carpooling intentions.
