Rain samples from two stations equipped with both bulk and wet/dry samplers were collected weekly for a year, and analyzed according to standardized monitoring programs. Several correlations among ions were found: these findings, especially when compared with the corresponding wind-frequency distribution, emphasize differences in the chemical composition of the rain that are related to the sampling site, to the kind of sampler (bulk or wet/dry) and to pollution source; they represent a useful means of assessing the environmental condition of the Po valley. © 1988.
