Abstract

We live in a diverse and multicultural society, thus in many parts of the UK GPs will come into regular contact with patients with a limited proficiency in English. Equal access to services is needed to reduce the risk of introducing health inequality for these individuals when compared with native English speakers. This article provides a practical guide for GPs about how to consult through interpreters.
