Abstract

States that multicultural self-managing teams (MTs) are rapidly becoming the global norm. Asks whether certain types of team organisation and arrangement of tasks result in a better outcome; what the key pitfalls are in implementing MTs; how cultural diversity can be turned to advantage within the team and the organisation. Reports on two years' study of Australasian teams to examine effective management principles for MTs and identify the effects of culture on team behaviour.
