Abstract

The article profiles the executive Leila Janah of the enterprise data services company Samasource which creates data augmentation, digital transcription, and image tagging jobs for women and youth in emerging markets, focusing on Samasource's efforts to reduce poverty as of January 2014. Topics include Janah's career, the SamaHub work platform, the photojournalist Sunil Janah, employee training procedures, and the SamaUSA program that assists community-college students in some regions of the U.S.
