Abstract

Among the best discussions on the subject is a TED Talk by Andrew Solomon in which he describes his depression, his conversations with others about their depression, and his thoughts about depression. It’s called "Depression, the Secret We Share," and it's worth reading the transcript in full. In it, he said: The opposite of depression is not happiness, but vitality, and it was vitality that seemed to seep away from me in that moment.
