Abstract

This study is the result of the search for another way to cover collective needs in a very specific area: Improvement of technique. Traditional/y this has been based on trainer's direct observation and the feelings of the gymnast. Actual/y, and without wishing to minimize the methods previously mentioned, we have available more precise methods that allows us to offer the trainer more objective results in respect to gymnasium work. One of the most potent methods of studying gymnastic work is biomechanic analysis. This work presents the biomechanic analysis of two gymnastic elements, the giant windmill forwards and backwards, comparing the performance of a highly qualified gymnast and one at the beginner's level. The principal object of this study is to satisfy the technical demands of trainers using a simple model, technological methods accessible and easy to acquire in the domestic market, and a treatment of the data that does not necessarily need someone super-specialized and trained in the biomechanic orbit.
