Abstract

This chapter briefly summarizes the results of a meta-analysis that examined auditory localization accuracy for more than 80,000 trials where brief broadband stimuli were presented anechoically in one of four different laboratories. The analyses were aimed at creating a comprehensive map of localization accuracy as a function of sound source location, and characterizing the distribution of responses along the “cone of confusion”. The results reveal trends in auditory localization whilst minimizing the influence of different experimental methodologies and response methods.
