Abstract

Ableism is detrimental to the educational experiences of children with disabilities in general education classrooms. In the upcoming years, mandated preventative models, such as RTI, are going to increase the population of students with disabilities in these general education classrooms. In order to create an effective and worthwhile academic career for students with disabilities, teachers must make a concerted effort to raise the awareness and understanding of their nondisabled classmates.
