Abstract

Path coefficient analysis was carried out on data from 10 characters recorded in 30 varieties of soyabean (Glycine max). Number of pods had huge direct effect over yield. Days to 50% flowering had a positive and significant correlation with seed yield. However, its indirect effect via number of pods is substantial. Indirect effects of leaf area and plant height via number of pods were also high. Therefore, breeding for high yielding selections may be based on maximum number of pods/plant and number of seeds/pod.
