Abstract

Synthesis of polypyrrole within a polymer-metal salt complex, poly(4-vinylpyridine)-CuCl2, is demonstrated. The resulting polymer composite show very intimate dispersion and a high conductivity. Thin almost transparent homogeneous films can be formed by these techniques. The simultaneous presence of polypyrrole electroactivity and Cu2+/+ electrochemistry is demonstrated. Such materials may be of interest for electrocatalysis. © 1991.
