To better understand the concept of leadership, leadership skills can be grouped into 3 general behavioral areas: courage, interpersonal and ethical. Managers need to take charge in their area of responsibility. Managers also have courage to formulate their own vision and communicate that to employees. Communicating a vision is essential to getting a task accomplished or attaining a specific goal. How managers interact with employees will have a definite impact on their success. In addition to respect, having and communicating high expectations of the team is one of the most important ways to demonstrate leadership. Determining what is right or ethical is one of the most difficult skills an individual must develop. When making difficult ethical decisions, managers should ask themselves such questions as: Is it right? Is it fair? Am I hurting anyone? Could I disclose this to the public or a respected mentor?
