Abstract

Medical simulators provide a risk-free environment for trainee doctors to practice and improve their skills. UltraPulse is a new tactile system designed to utilise focussed airborne ultrasound to mimic a pulsation effect such as that of a human arterial pulse. In this paper, we focus on the construction of the haptics component, which can later be integrated into a variety of medical procedure training simulators. © 2013 IEEE.
