From abstract painting to information visualization

Abstract

This article studies some of the theories used in abstract painting and their existing and potential applications to information visualization. The authors relate the three dimensions of painting--form, color, and texture--various visual cognition principles, and finally aesthetic compositions used in abstract painting for effective information visualization. © 2007 IEEE.
