Abstract

The majority of existing digital preservation solutionsare focusing on the long-term storage of digital contentsuch as documents, images, video, audio files and otherdomain specific data. Preservation of an InformationTechnology infrastructure for supporting business processesis a much more challenging task. It requires thepreservation of software and hardware stacks as well asrelevant contexts, which together, provide an executionlayer for running business processes. The proposed TIMBUSarchitecture addresses limitations of existing digitalpreservation solutions and provides a complete frameworkfor preserving business processes implemented upon aservice oriented architecture
