Abstract

Automatic identification (ID) represents a set of technologies that seems to work like magic. There are six automatic ID technologies: one and two dimensional barcodes, optical character recognition, magnetic stripe, radio-frequency identification, and automatic speech recognition. These automatic ID technologies have become so seamless and transparent to the end user that they do perform business magic for countless corporations and institutions around the world. Furthermore, auto ID technology is becoming a mainstay in home automation. With its different benefits, the performance capabilities of automatic ID technology is being pushed forward aggressively.
